Marchal began producing lights for the French market in 1923 and quickly became the standard for quality throughout Europe, and later the USA as well. They are mainly known for their headlights, fog lights and driving lights, although they produced hundreds of other small parts and ancillaries relating to lighting and electrics. In 1962 they merged with SEV, and later were absorbed by Valeo. They continue to be produced in Japan to this day.

In their heyday of the 50s and 60s, they produced model specific lights and mounting brackets for manufacturers from Ferrari to Peugeot and everything in between. Ford utilized Marchal lights on several models from the mid 60s into the mid 70s. They also featured quite prominently in European endurance racing in the 60s and 70s.

My lights and other items cycle through on a regular basis. The lights currently depicted are for reference only. Some may be available, while others may have been sold.

660 Series Lights

660 & 662 Series (7")

In late 1956 Marchal created a new styling for their aftermarket and manufacturer specified lights. The 7" versions were the 660 (fog) and 662 (driving) lights. All had a clear lens with a pronounced nipple in the center and utilized a BA21s style bulb, although an H1 bulb was optional from 1966 onward. These were in production until about 1968 and included many different permutations. Later models had additional numbers (660 760 and 662 762) and the SEV logo stamped on the lenses
I can match a specific lens type to your model year of car as desired.

670 Series Lights

670 and 672 (5.5")

Similar in design to the 660 and 662 lights but smaller and with a different ring "crown". Also introduced in late 1956 to replace the 640 series lights, these all utilized BA21s bulb technology. They too were phased out toward the end of the 60s, but remain one of the most popular designs ever produced by Marchal.

630 Series Lights

The 630 series lights are 6.25 inch driving and fog lights manufactured up to 1956.

640 Series Lights

The 640 series lights are 5.5 inch driving and fog lights manufactured up to 1956.

710/810 5.75" Lights

710/712 (5.75") and 780/782 (7")

Sharing the same housing and ring as the 810 and 880 series lights, but with different reflectors and then new H1 bulb technology. Also often designated as "Starlux". They have the cat logo offset to the side either as a blank impression or with a gold metal cat head affixed.

810, 812 and 819 (5.75")

Production of the 810 series lights began in late 1969. They were made predominantly using yellow lenses in 3 or 4 different shades over the 10 plus years of production. However, clear lensed units were also manufactured for the export market, as France required yellow forward lighting on all vehicles between 1937 and 1992. The lens and reflector are glued together and must be replaced as a piece. A flatter nipple holds an anodized cat logo.
The earlier housing and bezel were stainless steel, and were a push-on fit. Later models had black plastic or chrome plastic backs. An H3 bulb was utilized on these lights. Both hard and soft covers were manufactured for fitment on these lights.
810 is a fog light, 812 is a spot light and 819 is a driving light.

780/880 7" Lights

710/712 (5.75") and 780/782 (7")

Sharing the same housing and ring as the 810 and 880 series lights, but with different reflectors and then new H1 bulb technology. Also often designated as "Starlux". They have the cat logo offset to the side either as a blank impression or with a gold metal cat head affixed.

880, 882 and 889 (7")

These are simply a larger version of the 810 series lights mentioned above, utilizing the same construction and technology. They also come in both yellow and clear lensed models.

Large 8" Lights

700 and 900 Series 8" lights, clear and yellow

Introduced in 1968, and designed to compete with Cibié Super Oscars , Marchal introduced a range of large 8" lights.   The first design featured a different reflector and housing than later models from 1970 onward.  H1 bulbs were used.  They used a 200mm soft cover, but an 8" white plastic cover was manufactured from the mid 70s, and a flat black one for the flat front 900 series lights. Variations of the 8" lights include the 702/722, 709, 900, 902 and 909. These all, for the most part, shared a common painted or chrome housing after 1970 and similar ring.

610 Series Lights

610 & 612  (5.75") clear or yellow

The 610 series started in 1965 with the 610 (fog) and 612 (driving) lights with either clear or yellow bulbs. Notable as the first Marchal lights with stainless steel housings, and the thinnest Marchal lights to date. This was accomplished by silvering the inside of the housing and utilizing it as a reflector. The lens, which still had the nipple but far more subtle than its predecessors, was fixed in place by a stainless steel band. These utilize a BA20s bulb. They were only manufactured for a few years.
